Polyimide See Thru Stencils for Printing Solder Paste

Has anyone seen/used these yet? They seem to have lower coefficient of friction for release of paste and less wear and tear as well as conforming to the board better (plastic has better memory than stainless). Also there is no mesh so a larger image can be put in a smaller stencil size. But, the best is that you can see through the stencil for manual and semi-automatic printer alignment and reduce set up and changeover times. Anyone familiar with these? How long do they last?

Zulfiqar, The company that makes these stencils is a Canadian company named KJ Marketing (I'll paste a link to the web site in this message). It sounds pretty interesting. I've communicated with a few people that have used these stencils and they can't say enough good things about them. They laser cut the apertures, and because of the properties of the polyimid, the sidewalls wind up perfectly smooth, unlike stainless steel. Also as evrybody has heard, because you can see through them set-up is much easier. The other advantage I've heard is that you get better gasketing from the stencil because polyimid is more compliant to the PCB surface than stainless is. It's pretty durable too, everybody that I know is using them say they're using metal squeegees. This company also makes something else that I'm going to look into; wireless ICT fixtures...pretty neat huh? -Steve Gregory-
