Need info. on vib times for Siplace 80f4 Users | 14 September, 1998

Hello, I have a Siplace 80f4 placement machine. I work in a prototype environment and the majority of my components arrive in stick format. I am having a heck of a time trying to get these vibratory feeders to work. If anyone is using this platform out there and can contribute the vibration times for any components you may have experience with, I would greatly appreciate your input. I'll take anything from SO8 times all the way through PLCC44 times. I will gladly share anything I can in return. Thank you for your time. Best Regards, Justin Medernach

Unfortunatly there are too many variables to play with that you can't make a general rule for the vibration time. However, I suggest you increase the vibration time and lower the vibration force ( AC voltage ). For an SO 8, I would use 600 ms for an SO 28, 900 ms. There are a few other factors to concider: 1. Remove the cover flap which suppose to hold the component in pick up position during vibration. If a component gets caught betwen the flap and the following components the component might kick up and will crack another of yuor expensive encoders. If the vibration force is turned that high that the flap is required, it is turned up too high. 2. Which side of the end stop plate is facing the components? The angled side? Than turn it around. The flat side should face the components. Unfortunatly, you'll change herewith the pick position slightly in Y-direction by approx. .5 mm. 3. Which kind of metal lanes are you using ? No matter if long or small ones, you should have a small ramp for the component in pick position. This will take some pressure of the first component against the following components in the lane. 4. Are some of your feeders real noisy when you crank the regulator up to 10. They are not supposed to. But because factory adjusted at 50 Hz. they act a bit different by crossing the ocean. I saw once a manual how to adjust the magnet gap for better performance at 60 cycles. | Hello, | I have a Siplace 80f4 placement machine.
