Entry Level Placement Machine | 17 November, 1998

I am interseted in an entry level placement machine and looking for opinions and advice on manufacturers. My present line, an MPI-580 just became obsolete due to a bankruptcy situation! I need to place BGA and 20 mil fine pitch, speed is not too critical but price is; need to stay around $150K with feeders. Most critical is stability and viabilitiy of the manufacturer.

You might consider rebuilt, used machines from:

1 A refurbisher, rather than a broker. 2 A machine OEM.

They can be had at a comparatively low cost and will get you into the ball game as long as you can print paste to match accuracy.

I agree with Dave and feel you should seek out a good refurb machine. There are several companies dealing with this type of equipment and will have the manuals, feeders, and limited support for the equipment.

You can also find demonstration equipment available from leading equipment OEM's that will fit the budget you are seeking. Just be careful.

Just my two cents.

One point for you to consider is contrasting both new and factory refurbished entry level assemblers. Quad has long been known to have reliable, entry level assemblers. We have both new and refurbished available. If you'd like more information, contact me at 215-657-6202.
