Alternatives to ReDrilling for Non-Plated Holes Slots

Alternatives to ReDrilling for Non-Plated Holes Slots | 26 November, 1998

Certain board designs require the unavoidable use of non-plated holes and slots. Presently, this requires a trip back to the drill house to open up the aforementioned holes, to remove the unwanted plating. In situations requiring non-plated holes and slots, is there an alternative to redrilling? For instance, a substance that could be placed in the hole prior to plating, that resists the plating process. If anyone can help me out with this I'd be much obliged.

Certainly, you must specify whether or not a hole or slot shall be plated through. Your fabrication facility knows how. Simply, it is their responsibility to "mask" the drilled hole or routed slot to prevent plating in them, or strip the plating after (not preventive).
