Need to know from your experience a set of smt equipment for low volume manufacturing (approx. 800K parts/yr). Types to handle are standards i.e., 0404-7343, soic's, plcc's, pqfp, tsop, soj, BGA, chip res. smt conn. I would like to know a recommended paste printer, pick & place, solder reflow oven models to consider. We are not planning to use TABs,flip chips, or pitch lower than 20 mil. Your input would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks | Dela: Yours is a very broad question, so I assume you're looking for a very broad answer. Look at your back issues of "Circuits Assembly" magazine or request copies from the publisher. Their site is linked below.

January: Pick & place supplier list August: Reflow oven supplier list August: Screen printer supplier list

These lists make a back handed attempt to compare suppliers. Actually, they are a fairly comprehensive list of supppliers and their products, but not necessarily a basis for comparing those products.

Do you have a budget for your project? Suppliers of similar equipment have 2-5X price differentials.

With the low volume numbers you are looking at, a good match for your needs may be Contact Systems. I think that they can supply you with the paste printer and oven also, but they come from a different vendor.

Good luck!
