Does anyone have any reliability data /concern on pressfit rework/repair - is there any qualified /characterized equipment /tools present in the industry? What kind of effect does it have on barrel plating quality (1.5mil avg.) after 1 time rework or pressfit connector pullout process. Thanks in advance for help.

Thanks in advance for help. | The data you ask for is fairly difficult to ascertain. The pin composition, barrel composition, barrel diameter, pin diameter, and pin geometry will all have a differing effect on the barrel integrity after pressing. In house, we have a rule. Replace it three times and the fab is scrap. this seems to work fairly well as we haven't had any reported failures attributed to the press fit operation.
