FUJI CP Placements

FUJI CP Placements | 15 March, 1999

Here is my question. We have several fuji CP's in our shop, every once in a while the first couple of parts placed are off the pads. When we move the parts further down in the sequence they are fine. What is going on? Has anyone had this problem and what is the fix?

Thanks, Ben

We would place accurately on glass and find, in the real world, machines would compensate only in the + direction as they could not read minuses.

What is your firmware version? Help us help you... humbly, Dean

The firmware version is different on each CP through out the plant. We are however currently working on getting all the CPs to the same firmware version. But the problem I was talking about with the first couple of placements is not tied to one specific machine. Weve seen this problem on both types of CPs each with different firmware versions. I don't know if this will help you answer my question but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ben

The reason Fuji have given us is that some solenoids are sticking if the machine is stopped for a while. Have you talked to Fuji directly ??

Greg's hint of a " sticky " solenoid leads more into a mechanical problem. I would suspect the solenoids which shut off the vacuum or air blow releasing the parts after placement. Have you got some water in your airlines ? Maybe a month ago ? I saw some quite funny things happening on machines, when they got water mixed in the airlines.

You know that most people cheat on fiducial marks using the set all function. Make sure that the parts in question are referenced to the correct main mark and sub mark. The board should be divided in half if you are using two global fiducials, and the parts should be referenced in main mark to the closest fid, and referenced to the furthest for the sub mark. I've also seen this problem when the components are not referenced to ANY fiducials. Lets not jump the gun and tear the machine apart before we check the easiest things first. GOOD LUCK! Bubba
