Could somebody send me some information about the SMT Beginning? I mean, when, where, why, SMT starts.

Thank you,

Roberto.

| Could somebody send me some information about the SMT Beginning? | I mean, when, where, why, SMT starts. | | Thank you, | | Roberto. | Roberto: Theres lots of reasons for getting into SMT. Some of which follow:

1 Manufacturing engineers think its sexy to have new toys 2 Design engineers think its sexy to have new toys 3 Sales types think its sexy to have new toys 4 As products become functionally more complex, more electronic components are contained within a limited space. SMT uses smaller components and allows the components to be placed close together on both sides of the printed circuit board. This contributes to a size reduction in products of up to 70 percent. Assembly technology before SMT could not accommodate these specifications for miniaturization. With this miniturization also comes substantial weight reduction. Further, some components are only available in SMT packaging. However, SMT is not cheap. SMT equipment costs 3 to 5 times PTH equipment, and requires highly automated assembly equipment and significantly more production process expertise than PTH technology.

Thanks Dave, I know that. We have a lot of toys here that cause some headache. But I'm trying to get some presentation explaining the smt technology cause I have to make an explanation to some people.
