Wrote some software at home ................... (plug) | 12 May, 1999

WARNING: This is a plug.

I have read post on this site where the question is raised: "My machine can do 80 units per hour, but I am only getting 35 - WHY?"

Well I have written w95/database code that reads FUJI output files (CPII,CPII,IP2 etc) and displays the process versus the idle time in a statistical format (graphs and excel output). You can build production lines with the data (continuous flow ops) and analyze why you are not meeting rates. Managers and operators alike can see why the rates drop due to variability and bottleneck issues. I have no use for the software now because I am not in an SMT/Costing position anymore, but the first time I used it in a study (~27K line events) I found a shift problem that was actually a $500k per month managerial/operator problem. (i.e. long breaks, ignoring the bottleneck, etc.) Please contact me if you are interested.

Thanks,

Matt Harding mjharding@cybercom.net

Do like the other software marketing giants do - give it to us for free, get us hooked, and then charge us out the wazoo for those upgrades we're drooling over.
