Surface Mounting on Composite Epoxy Materials (CEM - 1)

Surface Mounting on Composite Epoxy Materials (CEM - 1) | 16 July, 1999

We are considering adding surface mount components to a board we currently produce. The board is made from CEM-1. Has anyone had any problems with surface mounting to this material? We use a glue/place/cure process.

Thanks in advance,

The process for those boards are: Glue Screening), Placing SMT, Cure, Auto insert HMT, Wave solder. Even during auto insert we do not loose smd components. I Hope you will have the same fine result as we have.

A little attention maybe is that CEM-1 has a higher level of Water Absorbtion as CEM3 and FR-4.
