Parts Packaging Data

Parts Packaging Data | 4 August, 1999

I am currently in the process of setting up an SMD Parts Package Database. The database will contain dimensional information to be used by the placement machinery to process parts (I.E Package Type, # of Leads, Lead dimensions, Lead pitch(s), etc. I realize that I can get part dimensional information from individual manufacturers part data sheets but this seems unnecessarily time consuming. Does anyone know of a more efficient way of obtaining standardized SMD packaging dimensional data?

QFP208 isnt QFP208 depending on manufactorer. That actually influences more the design part and sometimes your setup for visionsystems than your placement parameters. For getting only a database with placementparameters you could categorize all your parts matching certain criteria for example, which machine, head, placementforce, feeder, extra alignment, placementtime, special handling parameters etc.. I think that will help you in offline progamming. Special data required by the machines you will have to decide for each part individually what is necessary. Today theres normally no trouble getting datasheets and they are a lot off help. Most off them I get via Internet as PDF-files.

Just my thoughts

Mark,

You can request a cataloge from a dummy parts supplier which will have all the dim's you want. You may get a phone call or two from the supplier, however the data is worth it. We use it to make standard parts libraries for our equipment very succesfully.

Some choices would be Topline 800-776-9888 or Practical Components 714-899-8309 You can also get some info from their web sites

I would check with the Manufacturer of your pick and place equipment for their database. I know with Philips they keep a parts library that can be accessed by users for programing the vision files.

Hope it helps,
