I would like to know more about the so called FACETED or "Mirror ball" surface apperance. Its cause and how to eliminate / corrective actions for it.

This will result in a grainy sort of appearence that might look faceted. It is caused by movement of the joint while cooling and is more common with non-eutectic solder like 60/40. Common causes are components shifting position or a vibration in the belt or rail transport. good luck John Thorup | | |
