double sided step by step | 4 October, 1999

Hi everyone, I need some help on the whole process of double sided surface mount. We have been doing surface mount for about 3 months and we're getting ready to take on our first doule sided board. I just need some step by step process regarding solder paste and glue dispensing and when to reflow and at what temperature. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks, Rick

Hi ricks.

it depend on b'd type you gotta produce. All of two side can be solderd or one side is bonded another is soldered. i don't think that much difficult as you think. Don't worry. Just try to keep the recommend of solder paste and bond just do it just like they say. what you can do is to make decision that what side to go first. All the thing it begins seems like difficult.

good luck

Reson is bonding temp. is at 150 deg.C for 100 sec and it will not cause the bottom component drop.

Reson is the bonding temp. is at 150 deg.C for 100 sec and try to control the peak temp. at 160-165 deg.C This will not cause the bottom component to drop.

Rick,

We have been processing double sided SM boards for ages and we paste/place /reflow primary side, then paste/place/reflow secondary side. We use the same profile for top & bottom.We don't do glue. Components do not fall off due to surface tension etc;

BUT, this does depend on your product. Our boards are "small" compared to yours, maybe.(4" x 5" flexi-rigids)

The only time I have glued SM devices is for flow soldering of conventional stuff.

Give it a try, it may work for you.

Hope this helps, Regards,

Chris.
