Heller 1800S oven profile changing | 14 February, 2018

I have a Heller 1800S reflow oven the thing runs fine but when I have to change profiles the oven will have to be cooled down to room temp before it will change. Has anyone seen this or know how to fix it?

Thanks, David

Ours says it needs to cool down, but if I put in into cooldown, I can load the next recipe right away. I don't actually have to wait until it cools.

I just tried that Friday and only the first 2 and last 2 zones will turn on. Are you using DOS software?

My ovens are Windows units.

Mine is DOS so that might be the difference. No one can seem to figure it out. DO you know anyone that works on these ovens? I am feeling I am going to have to call in someone.

unfortunately I don't. Our maintenance guy has done all of the repairs on our ovens. When we did have a DOS HELLER, I called HELLER about an issue and they said that nobody that still worked there has any knowledge of the DOS machines and they couldn't help me either.

I do have access to a DOS HELLER 1500. And we can just change RECIPEs without cooling down first.

What is the message on the screen when you just try to change it from one RECIPE to another?

So the first two zones come on and the last two come on, and the middle zones start dropping temperature?

What happens if you let that go?

the first and last zones heat up just fine the middle just cools down. The only way I can get it to start up again is to open the oven and let it cool down to room temp. about 25C. says heaters are on oven not ready.

Wow, that is weird. I can't imagine that it's a setting, but who knows. The next time that oven is down, I'll look around and see if I can find some settings.

Can you make a copy of the software for me? It should be small enough to zip and email if you take out all the profiles. I don't have the disk and if you use the make disk option it keeps all the setting on that disk. Its a pain having to go edit each profile to run different boards.

I had a DOS Heller 1500 a looooong time ago so my memory is fuzzy.

That being said I remember there were some weird options in some of the configuration menus. I don't remember the names, but its were you would set the alarm points, you could manually set power output % and stuff like that. you could scroll from zone to zone including the conveyor belt. I would check those and make sure all your zones have the same settings.

The reason I say this is because once, after setting up the software after a HD crash, my conveyor belt would pulse in speed from fast to slow to fast again... it was one of those weird settings that had to be set right. Unfortunately this was along time ago so I can't tell you what specific menu to look under.
