Looking for a source for extruded pins

Looking for a source for extruded pins | 11 October, 2017

I am looking for a source of metal pins. The rough dimensions are 0.500” long, and 0.025” x 0.025” square. They will be soldered to circuit cards on both ends, so must be a solder able metal. No special needs in the strength area, i just need a good, low-cost, solderable metal. The ends can be any shape (but no flagging, I don’t want loose metal breaking off and creating FOD) , chisel tip, or cut flush, whatever. One end will be encapsulated in solder; the other will be trimmed off. I would also like them on tape and reel for placement on an SMT machine. I have some allowance in the tolerance if there is something close. My use would be around 75k per year, probably bought once per year.

Does anyone have a source?

Hi SuMoTe,

Maybe a lot cheaper to go to a connector manufacturer and buy your pins from them - most standard 2.54mm pin headers use 0.64mm square pins (0.025" = 0.635mm), that are 12.6mm (0.5") long. Perfect.

They will be plated with a solderable coating already.

Kind regards,

Rob.
