GSM1 Y Axis Limit Switch

GSM1 Y Axis Limit Switch | 28 April, 2017

I have GSM1 (OS/2) machine and it does not zero. The Y axis comes to all the way front to hard stop. I replaced the limit switch before the hard stop and can not find any way to test the signal from limit switch in diagnostic. I like to replace the cable that is connected to limit switch, any help? Normally Y axis comes to limit(front) and then starts the home pulse count going reverse.

I know AMC software will show me the signal from switch but I don't have that software for os/2.

Thanks,

Try cleaning the linear encoder reader. I've had dust build up on two of my machines resulting in failure to calibrate. Blowing out the reader heads with gentle compressed air resolved it.

Tom, Its not the scale but the switch itself because while zeroing, if you activate front limit switch for Y axis, Beam should travel back to look for home pulse. It looks like switch signal does not reach to the system. It is really hard to trace the two wire from switch to system.

Thanks for the reply.

Have you reviewed the wiring diagrams and checked voltages at the input card? Maybe you have a damaged IO card or broken cable.

On the HP Servo panel there are LED's that indicate state of limit switches - so you can see if the problem is in the switch or somewhere else. Did you check it?
