It is hard without specifying the models and the options on them. These are two of the top manufacturers out there, but there are even better, so if you are going to make a mass production assemblies, you should make a much bigger research.

Heller would be the choice here as they have over 1000 ovens installed around the world doing smartphone soldering. Something like 8 million phones a week are processed on Heller ovens at all the large phone manufactures. You can trust that they have done their homework on process repeatability and lowest cost of ownership.

I have seen so many installations and most with numerous ovens in operation.

We have been using Vitronics for over 20 years with very few problems. I imagine Heller is just as good, I would rather you talk to your Solder provider Rep to find out about any add-ons you need for your specific processes. Along with that info and a good Profiler almost any oven on the market is probably good. We also use Juki and Omniflo. All are quite good. We use a KIC profiler which is very easy to setup our oven profiles. Auto rail width and nitrogen are almost required in today's market.

Good Luck

DaveF: I personally like BTU for example. There are some German brands that are pretty good too like - SMT. Currently have Vitronics - it is good. Used to have Hellers - never been happy with the quality. Market keeps developing, so if it was me, I would research deeper- but that is just me. Now I read about vacuum soldering, there are vapor phase machines that keep improving.....

To be fair, making lots of the same PCBAs of the same relatively low thermal mass is not particulary challenging for any of the major manufacturers if you have enough heating and cooling zones.

Probably key for you would be local support for service, spares and training as in volume production downtime is a killer. Also features like flux collection, soft start up power consumption, centre rail support and with adjustment restrictions should be of consideration.

We have 6 Vitronics Soltec ovens. 4 XPM 820's, an XPM 1240, and an XPM3. All of them are great, but we're very impressed with the XPM3, you can't go wrong.

I would look at Rehm Thermal Systems, they are the leaders in Reflow and offer systems at same pricing points as XPM and Heller now with VXC series ( uses same tech as there top end VXS/VXP range...

Other than this 2 brand may be JT or Tamura. As I am already using both of this machine.
