I'm a new SMT member, I understand not clearly about Pick & Place cycle of mounter machine. I just know it as the desciption below. Pls, help me to understand clearly.

Turn on vacuum to pick component--> checking component--> turn off vacuum and blow air to place component on the board.

Which process do you have a question about? Is there something more specific you're looking for?

Basically you're close on the cycle. And this is a very basic cycle, there are many types of nozzles, machines, methods that will do this slightly differently.

-Nozzle drops onto the part.

-Vacuum on to pick up the part.

-Verifies the part (mechanical or optical) -Mechanically: Jaws tap the part to center part on the nozzle. -Optically: The part is moved over a camera that checks for the dimensions.

-Part is placed on PCB, vacuum off. repeat.

Typically there's no need for an air discharge to place a part. Either the part is "heavy" enough that when the nozzle moves back up the part stays down, or for parts like 0201's the paste has a "tacky" properties to hold the part to the PCB.

Some machines use air blowing to not only place the part but to also help guarantee that when the nozzle is sucking it doesn't end up with a net accumulation of solder paste inside the nozzle. Juki and Yamaha spring to mind.
