PCB Strech Maximum allowable at Incoming inspection | 1 September, 2015

Hello to All,

Is someone can refer me to an IPC standard where the maximum allowance of pcb stretch is mention? I've look into IPC-600, or 2222 or 2615 and I cannot find what I'm looking for. I will like to implement a pass/fail incoming inspection of pcb that show stretching prior hitting the production floor and end up with defect.

Best regards,

Are your PCB's stretched or is it that the films that were used to make your PCB's distorted. Thus vias and TH's don't align. These things will probably be picked up in bare board testing , but depending on the amount of offset may get through, to you. Normally in this day and age this sort of thing isn't an issue, with temperature controlled photo rooms and laser plotters, granite table drill machines etc.

But if you went for a PCB manufacturer that isn't big on this stuff you could conceivably land in the merde (I am trying to be polite here)

P.S. there are lots of PCB standards and asking in one of the PCB manufacturing forums would be good. PCBFinishing.com springs to mind.
