Latex Masking Dispense Valve | 13 March, 2015

Hello everyone, Has anyone had success dispensing ammoniated latex masking using a valve? If so, what company and type of valve are you using?

Our current supplier of non-ammoniated latex masking will no longer provide a container larger than an 8 oz squeeze bottle. Being that we use a 2 gallon tank, 8 oz squeeze bottles are out of the question. We have had great success using our mini spool valve, but ONLY if it's a non-ammoniated latex. Preferably we'd like to use Chemtronics peelable masking (pink stuff). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the company near to you, if so walk up to the back door, with a load of cash in hand and a suitable container. Another option get your hands on their formula and have it made up by a chemical batching company. If you can't do that get the MSDS and take it to a chemical analytical laboratory and have them run the product sample through a GC or a HPLC. you then have your formula to be made up. These services are quite cheap as their are many companies that do QC for other companies that run batch runs for other companies.

This idea has been brought to the table...

The issue with the ammoniated latex is that any friction causes shear curing inside the valve. We did find a Techcon "Pinch Valve" that we will be running some samples through. It has a disposable tube so clogs should be easily fixed.

Latex Masking Dispense Valve | 7 August, 2015

We use Humiseal T300 latex mask for over 17 years. No smell. That said we have been dispensing several ways. One is a Asymtek 718 in-line machine using a 1 gallon pressure pot and their DV7000 valve. It is an auger valve that has been highly successful for many years.

Thank you for the response! I was completely unaware that HumiSeal provided latex masking. I have a sample on the way.

I sampled some Wondermask 2211 in the past. By the TDS description, I wonder if they share the same makeup; both are applied as a pink then cure to a red. What we experienced with the Wondermask 2211 was that it cured almost as an acrylic; very hard and difficult to remove. We are filling in non plated thru holes in our application which the Wondermask 2211 would cling to causing difficult removal.

There are many liquid masking manufacturers. Some even use acrylic vice latex. Try Contronic Devices. They make their mask in multiple viscosities depending on how you will apply it and where.
