Need help identifiying capacitor | 4 September, 2014

Hi folks.

I need help identifying a replacement for this component, I believe it's a capacitor. It is marked AVX 9915 on one side, and 15uM and 15V on the other side. Unit in picture is the good one on the board, the one I need to replace has literally exploded. I've googled the AVX 9915 to death with no results. A search of Mouser turned up nothing either.

Anyone?

Thanks.

Hi Brett,

I'd suggest emailing AVX directly - gib@avxcorp.com Website at http://www.avx.com

They may be able to help identify the component. The M is probably nothing to do with the part, maybe just a production number. Looks like a radial tant though.

Regards

PhilC

It is a AVX TAR series. Commonly called a bullet cap and is now most likely obsolete. AVX 9915 is a date code or lot number. 15uM is the value, probably 15 micro farad but not sure.
