Glue preforms

I am familiar with solder preforms to automatically machine place to add solder volume to the PCBA but has anyone ever heard of a glue preform that can be automatically SMT machine placed (tape and reel). I know it is a long shot due to the obvious issues of tackiness etc but hey if you don't ask you don't learn.
