Solder Paste Storage

Solder Paste Storage | 17 April, 2014

Hello,

I was wondering if solder paste is taken out of refrigeration and left to sit at room temperature sealed.

How long will it usually last at room temperature on average before going bad?

If solder paste goes bad from sitting at room temperature too long, what are some problems that may occur?

Thank You

Talk to your paste supplier. There are many variables to your question.

To your first question - Yes you have to take out your paste and leave it on room temperature to warm up(my paste requires 8hours by manufacturer). Second question:

If you have controlled room temperature and: If you use jar - up to 5 days your paste is going to be questionable. If you use tube - up to 6 months, some pastes may be an year.

If your paste goes bad you will see it affects your print quality - paste will be dry and sticky.
