We have a Quad QSP-2 that recently started moving the gantries around incredibly fast and erratic at random times, but always while placing on a board. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does this happen with just 1 gantry? If so...I would think your encoder in that gantry/axis needs cleaned. I have seen digital i/o cards cause this issue. But usually you will notice this when opening and closing the doors. The head would sometimes 'runaway' because the motor signal isn't turning on quick enough. There are 2 digital i/o cards and they can be swapped as long as you change the dip switch settings.

Loose wiring in the ac section can also cause issues like this. Put the machine in run random and slighty tug on the wires to see if you can make the problem happen....if so..problem solved.

good luck

I would suggest to check your servo amps. on both gantries and both axis.Does it rattle both heads or just one? Since you did not specify this in your question,I will say check all 4 servos in the back side of your machine.Hope this will help and good luck.
