Re-doing this thread as original seems to have been shortened.

Our beloved 24 year old Fuji IP-1 fine placement machine won't start. Has been working fine for the past 6 years but now when the Power button is pressed the power comes on but the FAIL and HALT lights on the VM1152 computer light up and nothing happens. I've made voltage measurements on every power supply in the machine and they are all within tolerance. I've tried replacing the VM1152 with a spare one (that used to work) but it does exactly the same thing. So I'm thinking something else has failed.

Any suggestions as to where to look would be welcomed.

Hi,

Yes, there is a board marked "Memory Board" but it does not actually contain any memory. The memory card is attached to the CPU card. The board marked "Memory" is a board that allows you to plug in a Compact Flash (CF) memory card which we do not use.

In any event, we replaced the board marked "Memory" and the IP1 started working again. Perhaps the "Memory" board had a failed component that caused the bus to fail.

No, changing the VM1931 CF memory board allowed the IP-1 to start working again. The VM1931 was causing the problem. Later I removed the VM1931 completely and the IP-1 is still happy as a clam and bringing home the bacon.
