Need to pick between an inexpensive Manncorp manual axial lead former or the Manix unit. Any one have any experience with either of these two units?

Which model of Manncorp are you looking in to, we recently purchased from Manncorp and I can tell you from our experience what to expect.

We have HRFT-301U ( staple bend) is fairly easy to set up. All you need is t-handle Allen that I believe is provided with the machine. All adjustments to form a part, both pitch and lead length are mechanically adjusted by sliding the forming and cutting wheels.

Nothing fancy about it, but it does a good job. Not sure if you are concern about set up time. But after some experimenting with it, it can be set up in about 5 minutes.

There is the option to purchase a pitch gauge. But I honestly don't see the need for it. All you need is a caliper to set up the machine.

Just make sure to read the machine specs, as far as the minimum and maximum lead thickness that it can handle, and the same goes for the pitch.

The only con I see is the crank handle. it is long and the only way to turn it is if the machines is set at the edge of a table, so the handle can be turned. See this video and you'll know what I mean

Is this the one you are considering?

Hope this helps.

On last question. Is it possible to feed loose resistors into the machine one at a time?. We use a lot of parts where yearly usage is less than 1000 per year. Gary.

It is possible. You can do one or up to 5 at a time. But yes you can feed loose resistors. We do it as well.
