HI there,

A couple things to look at..

Are you using Pb-Free solder? What are the leads of the SD Connector tinned with?

Do you have a thermal profiler to use to verify your oven profile? (If not, you may be able to ask a Sales Rep to come in and assist you using a Demo Unit)

I am guessing a lead free process. From the pictures, I don't neccessarily see any issues, perhaps the leads have wicked up a little too much solder, making the joint look a little starved. But I think I see nice toe and side fillets.

In the worst case, you have answered your own question... introducing the SD Card Holder causes issues with the joints. Clean and perhaps re-tinning the SD Card leads if the volume is small enough. Rejection back to Vendor and Replacement of the parts due to some kind of surface contamination if you are looking at a large qty. 'hege

Hi there,

Its a lead free process and the paste that we're using is with this alloy composition : Sn,Ag,Cu,Bi,In....

Pls refer to the attached temp.profile....

This is a mirror Pcb....Same components on both A and B side....

A side doesn't have this issue.......

And now customer is blaming on reflow oven and not the component itself....

Pls give me your thoughts....

Cheers

And this process is using a kind of ceramic jigs.....

Does this jig absorb much heat that does not dissipate enough heat to the SD card pins ?

Thanks

kumar, can you explain why in zones 5, 6 and 7 you use different temperature on upper and lower heaters? Do you use a Nitrogen in your reflow oven?

HI,

She's running on air mode

Since its a 7 zone japanese reflow, these were the best settings i could get via profiling

Thank you

HI guys,

Problem solved.....reason is the SD card's location in on the fixed side of the reflow oven,i believe there is not much convection heat blown towards the component....

Pleased to hear if any
