So, I was wondering how thick 2 oz. Copper is supposed to be? I have heard 60 microns and 70 microns, but the PCBs that we have that are supposed to be 2oz Copper are 68.5 microns, the Customer would like at least 60 microns, but what is the reality of this range of thicknesses?

2 oz copper should be 2 oz per ft^2 thick. There is no relationship between thickness and copper weight due to the effect of processing. Since this is a painful way of thinking about things, ppl have reached a compromise and talk about 'nominal thickness.' The ~70 microns that anvil and hedge are using is a nominal thickness.

IPC 4562 says that ED foils can be 10% below the listed nominal (nominal for 1 oz is 34.3 um [1.35 thou]). Foil more commonly comes in at 33 um {1.30 thou] or less.

Processing does reduce this down to 30.5 um [1.2 thou] or thinner. Our standards say that 1 oz foil needs to be 1 thou [25.4 um] thick.

Check out IPC-A-600. Revision G (July 2004) section 3.2.3 (surface) and section 3.2.4 (internal) give min/max thicknesses for various weight copper. The min also changes depending on what class (1-3) standard you are working to.
