Board oxidation... should I belive...? | 18 April, 2013

Hola.. I have several PCBs with some kind of oxidation, my supplier has told me that there is no problem with that oxidation, it will have no effet on soldering and press fit processes, PCBs were received 1 year ago, but they are well packaged and humidity card shows no evidence os anything abnormal, so shouold I belive my PCB supplier statement? what should I be looking for to accept or reject these boards, I'm attaching a picture for your reference, any inputs wull be apreciated.

Saludos!

Hola Jorge

I can't make-out the corrosion on your board. Do you have a better picture?

Since your fab told you not to worry, in that, did he / she describe the corrosion and it's source?

Hola After some investigation I found that these units have this oxide after reflow, so I'm guessing that may be some process related issue, I'm attaching pictures for reference. My supplier has not given me any explanation so far, they are working on that but no update until today.
