What specs to look 4 when buying XRAY machine for BGA inspection | 21 May, 2012

Hi, I need some advice. What should I look at when buying a new X-Ray machine for off line BGA inspection? Should I concentrate on spot size?, Sensor resolution ? I need 130-160Kv and 70 degree Tilt axis board size about 30cm x 30cm Any suggestions ? I am looking at: Nordson Dage Ruby system with X-Plane YXLN Couger Nikon XTV 160

Let us add to this by saying, we don't work for the company referenced above, don't own stock in the company referenced above, have never known anyone who works at the company referenced above and whether you buy a product from the company referenced above or not we don't get anything for writing this. Hi,

You can go a long to answering that question yourself - what do you need to see? If you are lookig for the normal stuff like bridging, opens and voids you dont need anywhere near 130-160kv.

I have just completed the same excercise and we have some prettly tasty BGA components with heatsinks etc, this demands approx 85-95 kv depending on magnification required....

I have quite a lot of info if you want to email me.

I work for a contract manufacturer so I have covered a lot of the ground you are about too...
