Copper Oxide Thickness Measurement on PCBs | 30 August, 2010

Is there any way to measure the copper oxide thickness on the inner layers of a PCB? I have been asked to investigate this and am not sure if it is possible.

If it is, please tell me by what method, any contract labs that can do it, or the name of a manufacturer that could perform the measurement.

Sure, you should be able to measure the copper oxide thickness on the inner layers of a PCB when doing sections.

SERA testing (sequential electrochemical reduction analysis)can measure surface oxidation, not sure on inner layers.
