Could someone provide to me a definitive list of the component sizes used on the 4 types or colors of the 8mm Agilis Feeder Inserts. I am a new employee and this is the first time I have encountered Mydata equipment. Life was easier when I was using HSP, GSM or Fuji feeders

basically the rule of thumb for the 8mm feeder is that you only want one component exposed in the pocket at a time. If you see more than one component exposed you need to go down in size. The reason for this is that if there is another component exposed it can bounce out of the pocket when the component is picked. I believe the following is a good guideline

8mm 3.7:01005 to 0402 8mm 4.0:0402 to 0805 8mm 4.7:0805 on up 8mm 5.4: I use these mainly on small tant caps and any larger components that come in 8mm tape

I hope this helps. I'm not 100% sure if this is the MYData recommended sizes but its seems to work for me.

I agree with the range. I do find that sot's run better in Red. There is a Black Agilis (8mm) I use for Tant B's

Are you, or is anyone, using a MYDATA to place 01005's?

Actually the color represents the amount of cover tape that is exposed or peeled over. 01005 - 0402 Green 0402 - 0805 White 0603- 1206 Yellow 0805 - on up Red We use the Green feeders for 01005 placement, they made a later rev that has a magnet in it to hold the part down during advance

With regards to the list provided by Tech1 where would the Black 8mm feeder fit into the list?

While on the topic of feeders I would like to ask a question about the Mydata Tube or stick feeders. Due to a shortage of metal forks for the tube feeders we are forced to improvise and use what ever size of fork is available. This is done by notching out the end of the tube, usually the length of the component + 1/4, then insert the tube all the way into the fork. The gap on the sides of the tube is taken up by wedging in a tube stopper on either side. This is obviously not the way it should be done but...... What I would like to know, are the metal forks still available for the older stick feeders? Finally is anyone else doing something similar and have you developed a better way of notching the end of the tube? We are using an exacto knife.

I've attached the products accessories catalog for mydata you should find the part number for the tube forks around page 82. You should be able to E-mail Lisa.Burr@mydata.com with the part number for pricing.
