Lab & Low Volume Reflow oven | 11 November, 2009

Hello,

We are looking for a lab and low volume reflow oven. I believe we want an IR/forced air combination oven? Nitrogen gas inlet would be good. Would like many adjustable temp profile segments. We saw the Manncorp T200N on their website. Is this any good? If not, does anyone know of anything better than this for an oven in this low volume category?

It is sold by a few companies. We are the US distributor for these ovens. There may be several people selling similar ovens or the same ovens however we offer support here in the US and parts out of US. This is only for people who buy from Manncorp. It is basically buyer beware if they buy elsewhere. We also translated all documentation etc to english.

Actually not true. We are the official distributor for the T200 ovens for the US. Some of the other ovens on our site are exclusively manufactured for Manncorp with our input on design. Regardless of any product we sell, whether distributed or our product we install, service etc...

Take a look at http://www.atco-us.com/products/info/3 . Benchtop version is also available. A full forced convection oven delivers much better thermal uniformity than an IR/forced air combo system.

When comparing different ovens, some things to consider: your maximum board size, capability of the oven to produce desired profiles, control interface (microprocessor or software), does the oven require to be pre-heated prior to loading parts.

reash, Go directly to APS and get one of the APS GF-12 ovens. I have been using these for 15 years as a low-to-medium volume oven for general purpose reflow of CCAs up to about 12" by 12" with excellent results. I use them for BGA re-balling, underfill cure, and a number of other applications as well. They are extremely dependable, hold their temperature to +- 2 deg. C, and are just a great little reflow oven. I have had much better results than the Manncorp ovens which we tried for awhile but sent back because they did not work very well, and the temps varied all over the place. I'll second the recommendation for the GF-12 series, although I ended up with the Mistral-260 because of the exchange rate and the longer tunnel. Unfortunately the 260 does not open for easy access like the GF-12, although I haven't needed access yet.
