does anyone knows how to calculate a correct fluxer traverse speed if given a spray width,pcb width & length and wave conveyor speed? thanks

Here's a stab at it...

Decide on how much overlap you need for your spray pattern and calculate your effective spray width. 4" spray with 25% overlap would be 3". Keep your units the same (unit lengths and unit length per unit time). Assumes your fluxer is set to return at board width, fluxer with a fixed width or running a pallet would be a little different formula.

Ew = Effective spray width;W = width of PCB;C = conveyor speed

Traverse Speed = (W*2)/(Ew/C)

We don't know of a calculation, but we run ours as fast as we can while still getting good hole fill.

I never calculate it when I setup a profile...I have a feel for our fluxer setting and adjust based on belt speed and width. I also have different nozzles and a pressure setting to play with. Inspect the bottom of the board for good coverage. Running a sheet of cardboard is a good check to see how consistent the coverage is (with heaters/wave off) The absorbent surface shows banding when the traverse speed is too slow. On the other hand some people weigh their boards pre and post fluxing to verify amount deposited. In general I prefer a slower traverse speed - I feel there's better TH penetration.
