Looking for a rework station with vision system | 24 August, 2009

Hello,

I need some suggestion. I want to acquire a rework station that can handle small CSPs and has a vision system, but cost is a concern. Does anyone have an opinion on the brand I should look at? I see that there are some air-vac drs22 pre-owned available online, but I'm not sure I understand the differences between this model and the later drs25. Can someone share his experience?

Thanks!

DRS22 is not really comparable to the DRS25 due to a huge difference in the bottom heat technology used on those machines. If the PCBs are light enough the huge power of the DRS25 bottom heater is likely not needed, though.

I would ask about your processes, lead free or tin/lead, and recommend that you look at a used DRS24 at minimum, and a DRS25 if you can fund it.

If your PCB assemblies are small and smaller, you might look at Finetech, they handle small parts with ease.

I am not affiliated with, nor do I receive any compensation from any of the above mentioned companies.

Hello,

thanks for the help. Since this is only for prototypes we can avoid lead-free. Also our boards are not that big or thick.

On the other side, our parts are small, the smallest is 1.5x1mm.

Would the DRS24 work? What brand is usally more affordable for the capabilities I need?

Thanks!
