Testronics new program causing sys lock up

We have a Testronics 504 and it will run existing programs fine. When we try to create new programs, the system locks up and we have to reboot, loosing the program. In effect, we can not create new programs. Testronics has tried to help with phone service and software, but to no avail. They don't do on-site service and want $5K-$10K if I ship it back to them for service. Does anyone out there know of this issue or know how I can fix this?
