Quad Autoprogram Help Needed | 23 October, 2008

I am running Autoprogram ver. 5.31 and need to split a large program so that it can run on 2 seperate Quad 4C assemblers. When I generate the program I select the "Breakup Program for Seperate Central Controllers" box but I do not get 2 seperate programs. I am getting a segmented program that requires me to reconfigure my 4C's to run in a master slave configuration and use only one Central controller. This is a pain. I know this can be done because I have split programs in the past. Any insight as to what i am doing wrong will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, been a long time so dont quote me on this.....but i think you have to go into assembler configuration and change a number that is located under each assembler to its own number....ex....assembler 1 assembler 2 . They probably both have a 1 at the moment. Then after you optimize it should make 2 programs.

Good luck Bob

I checked and the assemblers are labeled as 1 and 2. Thanks for the try.

I think there is an option to select that says breakup programs for seperate central controllers.....but i cant remember where it is. Maybe you can find it.....I dont have a manual or the software anymore and my brain has shrunk a bit since the late 90's.

You are correct. There is an option under Generate Program to Breakup program For Separate Central controllers. I choose this option and then it asks for a suffix to add to the program name. I am using Head as the suffix. After program generation I should end up with 3 programs. If my base program is named "smd board" I should now have "smd board", "smd board head1" and "smd board head2" in my board list directory. That's the way it is supposed to work. I just can't get it to work.

For some reason....i thought there was some kinda bug that you didnt see that it worked but it actually did. You may want to take the program to the machine and see if it worked.

I copied the program over to the 4C but It still hasn't split the program.

I must have an incorrect setting somewhere.

This is my last guess....but make sure you have nozzles assigned for both machines because if you dont it will assign everything to one machine......hence.....one program.

Yep there are nozzles on both machines. This is a very quirky program. I remember when I first loaded it I couldn't get it to run. I reloaded several times, double checked all of the settings in the autoexec and config.sys files but couldn't get it to run. Finally I called Quad support and they told me that sometimes you need to have a CD in the CD player in order for the program to run. The CD could be a music cd a blank cd or any other cd. I put one in and the program ran fine. I am going to assume that this is one of those quirky problems.

That's an amazing shot in the Dark. Never had to put in a CD to make it work....But, you could also try to add aluminum foil to the light tower to improve the reception, maybe that will help! Or even bring in someone to meditate over the machine while the cd is playing environmental sound effects....

Is the AutoProgram loaded on a Windows 3.1 PC?
