I need to find a qualified candidate to join a communications company in the SMT department.

The project calls for an individual who has worked with product development building prototypes and testing them in an R&D environment, as well as working closely with electrical engineers. These technicians must have trouble shooting skills working w/advanced instrumentations (power electronics such as Othello scopes, network analyzers and meters) and be able to solve problems, trouble shoot by reading schematics, working very closely with surface mount technologies for removing and adding parts all while working under a microscope to solder the components onto the electrical circuit boards. The position is out of Budd Lake, NJ.

If anyone knows of someone who fits the description please email me ASAP!

Thanks! AnnMarie Pearl Volt Technical Recruiter

I believe it is short for Oscilloscopes which is used to debug signals. How that relates to SMT I don't know...I am only a recruiter.

Oh.

You mean "Oscope", which is short for oscilloscope.

I'd apply, but I'm stuck here in beautiful Colorado.

Good luck with your recruiting !!

It sounds like you are looking for a test technician for SMT boards. SMT techs build them.

I need a technical specialist to turn-on, trouble-shoot, modify, repair, and test the power supply prototypes at the printed circuit assembly and instrument levels. This person would be involved in setting up both manual and automated tests, making measurements with a variety of test instruments (oscilloscopes, voltmeters, network analyzers) and recording results. Instructions provided will be objective, vary from minimal to detailed, and may require small test program development. In addition, this person will be working with the Product Development Team, in an R&D environment, as well as working closely with Electrical Engineers and possibly environmental technicians on a daily basis.

Skills needed: Turn-on and trouble-shooting of printed circuit assemblies Analog trouble-shooting skills supported by a strong knowledge of electronic circuitry and schematic reading capability Proper operation of and experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, network analyzers Handling small surface mount components in the repair of printed circuit assemblies Repair and/or modification of printed circuit assemblies, both SMT and through hole technologies

The hiring manager calls this person a Research and Development Technical Specialist.

I googled this and this is what comes up:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Othello

I guess Othello was a Shakespeare tragedy.

A Test Technician or Test Engineering Technician is the proper title for this person........not an SMT technician.
