Does anybody using Vitronic Soltec's Delta 5 wave have any problems with their Select X. Apparently there are others out there (according to our rep) who are having problems. I am curious as to what they are and what you are doing to fix it.

Hi Adam,

What kind of problems have you heard of? The reason I ask is that we just bought a Delta 5 recently and are awaiting for the SelectX to be installed on our machine. We haven't received it yet.

Were dealing with firmware issues for the stepper motor, as well as communications problems with the software. Vitronics is looking into it... again, but even they seemed to be stumped. You may want to ask your rep about it. Our machine is brand new, so there shouldn't be a problem like this.

But from what I understand it is a tranlation issue between Japan and the Netherlands that caused the initial problem. Also, I don't know if you guys are aware, but you may need to do an upgrade on the entire relay system for the Zone 3 calrods. Aparently it is a known issue and you will not be charged for the replacements but it took me about 2 hourse to swap.

We are dealing with some issues on our Select X as well. It was installed in April and worked fine for a couple weeks. Then we noticed that our bridges were coming back. We took a close look at our select x and had a Vitronics tech come out. He tested it and did not find anything wrong with the electrical. We concluded that our O-rings have been shot and were disintegrating. Some new ones are on order and will be here shortly. Thought I would help to give you a heads up on this issue. If you have any thoughts or ideas, those would be helpful.

We have been noticing that our flow percentage seems to be weak. Our meter reading will not rise above 43%. Maybe this has to do with a leak by the bad O-Rings. We were running at 450 degrees Celcius and have since turned it down to 350.

Vitronics moved most of their production from holland to china the beginning of this year... I'm not saying this might be the reason, but on the other hand, I just fear for the quality of their new machines and am astonished that a company with such a high standing makes such unnessairy move.

I hope that we have not lost much quality, but am still bothered by the way our select x is working. It seems to do very well when I can get the nozzle head within 5/1000 of an inch to the board as it passes. However, when I increase that distance to about 15/1000, the performance greatly drops. It seems as though the solder does not want to wet as easily, or it seems as though the airflow is not sufficient.

I would not think a small amount like that would make a big difference. If any of you have something else I could try that would be greatly appreciated. We cannot leave our nozzle that close to a board because of the wide variety of lead lengths that travel through our wave machine. Maybe we are not getting maximum air flow from the select x?
