We have an old GSM1 (I-block, USOS V1.4.14, two 4-spindle heads, changers between rails). When I configure machine so there are no nozzles on heads and changers are filled with required nozzles, except for one empty hole, machine won't pick up nozzles at the beginning of a program. Boards goes in, gets clamped and machine stops with the head in zero position. Start button goes off, and no messages are shown...This condition stays infinitely. Air is OK, changers can be engaged manually in diagnostic mode. Everything looks fine except it does not work. If I fit nozzles manually on heads (and configure machine), it works fine. I must add, that it worked in the past until once it dropped the nozzle while changing. Machine stopped, I opened it, fitted nozzle manually and re-configured. Program was finished, but after that I can't get it pick up nozzles any more. To me it seems like it saved some information which confuses nozzle changing algorithm. Any ideas?

I could be wrong but I don't believe that you can start with any empty spindles. If it picks up nozzles, you will end up with more than one empty changer hole which will not work for the vacuum that is required to remove the nozzles from the spindle during subsequent nozzle changes. Vacuum on GSM nozzles changers is not segregated to individual holes - (ex.) 2 and 3 are combined vacuum, 3 and 4, etc. I would suggest filling the spindles with nozzles, putting your other nozzles in the changers and use plugs or spare nozzles to fill the changers until you only have one empty. Configure the machine as such, then be sure to re-optimize the program. Dry-cycle to see if it works.

Yep, I've learned the lesson the hard way - you can't start GSM with no nozzles on heads ;-). I've discovered after I posted the question. Thanks anyway...
