Fuji CP6 Issues, Questions | 11 June, 2007

Greeting all!

Welcome to my swamp. Its not much, but I call it home. I am new to this blog site but have a myriad of problems with my Fuji CP 6. I may not be the sharpest ogre in the land, but would appreciate a little help from my little donkey friends. It appears I have a placement problem with my CP-6. My problem is I am getting miss-mounted parts. Its a new job so there could be many possibilities to solve this problem, like the layers of an onion. I have quite a bit of an extensive background to rely on, but not with placement. I feel like a Gingerbread Man next to a gallon of milk. My background is that Im a big, good looking guy that is used to gettin my way with my wit and muscle. Sometimes miss under stood, but look, , I'm not the one with the problem, okay? Well this dragon of a machine seems to have even me on the run. Id appreciate any help form my little friends. Dadle do Donkey, dadle do.

Look...I'm sure the numerous 10 year olds that browse this site can relate to your humor.....and if it's all in jest....well I guess that's funny.

However...if you really have a problem with your CP-6 you'll need get a little more specific....once the reefer wears off of course.

Well, whether your parents like it or not, I am an ogre!

And guess what, princess Mika? That's not about to change.

Princess Mika, all joking aside, the parts placed by my CP6 are billboarded, skewed, and mismounted in the lower left corner of the PCB.

I concur Chunks !

A simple test to carry out is the Z0 height check across the board, with particular attention to the area of the board you are having problems.

You should at least see the nozzle touch the board , ideally press the board slightly.

The proper method is to load a flat plate into the X-Y-Z table. The plate size should be as large as the largest board you run. Indicate the entire area of the plate with a dial indicator. I don't remember the exact spec, but try to stay within .2mm. Make sure the Z-is sitting at origin, turn the place solenoid on and rotate the cam to 200 degrees. At 200 degrees you need .3mm deflection.

This is for anyone that might be taking any part of this thread seriously. Or for the person that might search CP643 in the archives one day.

Happy Friday.

Hi Shrek,

I quote: " Well, whether your parents like it or not, I am an ogre! And guess what, princess Mika? That's not about to change. My background is that Im a big, good looking guy that is used to gettin my way with my wit and muscle."

I dont know what an "ogre" is, but i presume it is not nice. Please let my old parents be left outside this forum. If you have been a little bit more specific about your problem in the beginning instead of calling us "fat ogres", I could have give you an adequate answer immediately. Muscles won't help ( I am a Viking from Sweden)...

However, all joking aside; Your problem most certainly resides in the x-y table area , just as Real Chunks, aj and Sr.Teck mentioned. I would suggest that you get hold of a Fuji engineer to fix this. The X-Y table co-planarity should not be more than 0.05 - 0.1mm. There is a somewhat simple way of how to fix this problem or at least verify it, but I can not in words describe this easily. It regargds the 4 small belts around the X-Y table and it's timing shift. This could happend when a mis-aligned pcb enters and mis-sets inside the X-Y table. Those small timing belts could also be weared out; meaning that one of them missing a teeth or 2 or just so small teeth that they will slipper around and therefore cause X-Y table mis-aligngment. Also the collars could be bad.

Another thing and this is important: make sure that the library settings of the small chips are within and at the lower end of 1/10 of a mm thickness! Board thicknees as well!! For ex. if a 0603 cap is 0.8mm thick; then set it to 0.7 and if your pcb is 1.8 mm thick, then set it to 1.7 mm. This will compensate for a somewhat mis-aligned X-Y table.

The nozzles on this machine is spring loaded and it should handle this whitout smashing the components to hard to cause cracks (invisible). If it does; then you have a major mis-setting on your machine and you should definately get a Fuji technician to re-set/calibrate everything! Please let us know Your progress. /Sincerly Prince Mika
