Lead free solder slivers (swarf)

I currently have issues with "slivers" of solder on or behind QFP devices. This has only occured on PB Free boards (we currently produce PB and PB Free on same equipment). This is not tin slivers, this is a long thin sliver of solder measuring up to 2mm long. We initially thought the source would be swarf from the solder wave getting onto the PCB, but have now had slivers and solder samples analysed and can definately say that the slivers we are seeing is reflowed solder, not solderwave solder. Has anyone seen similair or can suggest sources of this issue ? TIA

Hi TIA,

Check to see if you have solder resist between the pads on your PC board. If the board house just blocked out the resist all the way around the entire row, you may want them to change this to individual pads.
