Hello All,

Anyone able to pick and place the Zierick 1260T part? It comes on T&R but sure is not 'nozzle friendly'.

Chunks,

I do not see how any SMT machine could place this with a vacuum nozzle. It looks like it would need a cap to give a flat sealed surface for the nozzle, but the data sheet does not show one.

Have you asked Zierick if you can get it with a cap?

Jerry

Some p&p machines are offering mechanical gripper tools these days. Check with you p&p maker to see if they have any offerings.

Get a hold of Jim at SMT Research and show him this. They specialize in custom nozzles and I bet he can help you with this.

Chunks, Nozzle unfriendly? Maybe it should be called nozzle hostile. Depending on the machine and lighting a nozzle with a 1.8mm tube might work. In English units that would be a .072 OD with a .062 ID. The area such a nozzle would pick from is the 60 degree angle. A 60 degree angle is supposed be self releasing. The angle on the top of the part would guide the part into the tube. Front lighting with with a black tube would be neccesary for optical confirmation. This is what I would try first unless Zierick can supply caps or a better plan.
