Omniflow 7 conveyor | 15 January, 2007

Hello all,

I am having some trouble with the conveyor speed on an Omniflow 7 reflow oven. Recent profiling showed that the conveyor was running to slow so I calibrated the speed using the instructions in the manual. After calibration there was no change in the belt speed. No matter what speed I run the belt at it is 11 seconds slow, ie. 40cm/min 11 seconds slow, 80cm/min 11 seconds slow etc. Has anyone ever performed this calibration? I am wondering if the manual is correct. It instructed me to turn all 4 of the control pots fully counter-clockwise but never had me make any further adjustment to one of them. This seems a little odd to me. Any help will be appreciated.

We have an oMniflow 7 as well, and looking at the calibration procedure, it indicates that turning the pots ( total of 5 pots. 4 on the lower board and one on the upper board )fully counter-clockwise is the FIRST step of a series of tests. Then you will procede to turn pots while monitoring the voltage of each pot ( Using an ohm meter set your probes on A+ and A/F ) Then proceed to adjust the pots until the voltage reads the specs on the manual, do this for the Current pot, min pot and max pot. It's pretty straight forward, look at your manual again, Section 8 Calibration.

Keep me posted.

Dback is right. You're missing part of your manual. Once you perform steps 5-7 you should get an indication that you calibrated correctly.

Man, it's a cardinal sin to recal conveyors once you have programs adjusted. Why did you feel the need to recal?

This is a used oven, new to us. No product has been setup on it yet. We were establishing som baseline profiles and noticed that the actual profile read didn't even come close to our optimal profile. Further investigation proved that the belt was to slow. The manual has you turn all 5 pots fully counterclockwise. Adjustments are then made to the IR Current, Min and Max pots. The current limit pot can be adjusted if necessary. No where does it mention adjusting the gain pot which is now fully couterclockwise and was not when I started the cal. We do have the speed back to what it was when we started but it is not correct.

What test did you do to come to the conclusion that your conveyor is running 11 seconds slow?

Set the conveyor to run at 1 foot/minute and the conveyor moves 1 foot in 1:11. Set the conveyor to move 2 feet per minute and the conveyor moves 2 feet in 1:11.

etc...

Not sure if this has any bearing on the problem but did you check to see that T2 and T3 are jumped on the speed control board per the first note in the prodedure?

Yes, these 2 pins are jumpered together.

Thanks

This 11 seconds is constant? Seems like it's a clock issue. The machine thinks a minute is 71 seconds.

I have found a screen in the software that appears to be some setup data for the conveyor. I cannot find any information in the manual refering to this screen. If you open "SCREENS" then "DEBUG DATA" then "CONVEYOR" there are some setup parameters. Does anyone know anything about this? I am wondering if this may be the source of my problems.

Forget that idea. This is an informational screen and changes cannot be made.

There is another screen where you can select the sprocket size, since we have an Omniflo 7 as well, it may be worth looking into.

Go to Set up/Configure/Option/Conveyor. There you will see Options for different Drive sprockets. Ours have 21/55 tooth selected. And 19 tooth selected.

Are yours the same?

I checked this and it seems to pertain to the rail conveyor only. We are using the belt conveyor.

Thanks

I believe the drive of the conveyor whether rail or belt is the same so the sprocket choice in the software would effect belt or rail conveyor speed. I would make sure the number of teeth match the sprocket selection in the software.
