Magnets in the bottom of CP6 feeders ? | 28 November, 2006

Does anyone know why there would be magnets on the bottom of the locating plate on a CP6 feeder ?

We seem to have some feeders with them and some without.

For the criminally insane to help them locate the feeders? Or to help hold them down when changing them if you don't have those huge lumps of steel they clip into?

Dude - Keep away from the oven, you have sniffed to many fumes. Magnets aren't listed in the parts list, sacrafice an operator until someone fesses up!!!

You are probably right about the oven fumes, but there are indeed magnets in the bottoms of some of the feeders.

These feeders come from an old OEM plant. They had a in house system they put together so the machine will not run until you had the correct feeder in place. Once the feeder was scanned and put into the feeder slot, the magnet would help recognize the feeder to the device slot and talk back to the system.

Motorola had there own Verification system, which required magnets to be installed in the bottom of each feeder.
