Reassign Over Temp on Reflow Ovens | 3 November, 2006

I have a BTU Reflow 8 stage (PCDIU software) oven. The max temp. that it will allow is 270 degrees. I am trying to use a High Temp solder paste and the profile states that I must go between 260 and 270 degrees. My question is, is there a way to increase the Over Temp setting on the BTU so that I can reflow High Temp Solder on an older model MIS 14 with a PCDIU software.

Thank You, Monty

There are always work-arounds to these types of problems. But in this case this limitation is most likley a safety feature. I would not recommend defeating a safety feature that could result in your factory burning to the ground.

Or at the very least, destroying the blower bearings.

A slow profile should get you up to temp unless you have severe mass on your board. 8 zones is a lot oven to work with.

There are no lead services that can run your board for you. Might be expensive, but use this cost to justify a real high temp oven.

If it's a small one time run, contact your local oven dealer and ask tell him you are interested in a new oven. You want to run this sample to see if it works as well as his competitors oven.
