I am not sure about your model but I can tell you that DEK 265Lt I am using now is quite enough,so your one could be even better.

I have a lot of experience on 1995 vintage Dek 248 and Dek 249. The 1995 to 1997 vintage were not the best. If Dek has improved them, great! If not, then I would not buy one. Dek 265 is a great printer. Dek did not put a lot of support into Dek 248/249. I would buy a used SM Tech 100MV if you want a semi automatic printer. The SM Tech 100MV is the same as Quad. MPM bought SM Tech. You can buy a new MPM Microflex or a Sigma Print SM Tech 100MV still. I believe this to be a better choice over a used Dek 248/249. I can't really say much about a new Dek 248/249. Maybe Dek put more effort into the new Dek 248. I would look at Dek Horizon or used 265 unless you need semi auto for some specific application. All other Dek machines are great. Don't buy a used Dek 260 either!

I heard through DEK that anything older than 10years they stop manufacturing replacement parts for. I would keep this in mind if looking at used equipment.

Hi If you are looking for a good solid reliable printer you might like to compare the Dek 248 and 100MV's with the R29-V from Reprint in the UK.

It has great software and vision system and is built on a new platform whereas the Dek 248 and 100MV/Microflex are all based on 12 yrs plus platforms.

Its certainly worth checking out.

The 248 is a good machine, but I would look at a used one (the CE or CER package)... The latest (the CERD) is a nightmare as far as servicability (pretty cover package, impossible to get into to work on)... and the software (if it is a non-vision machine) is cumbersome. The CER is probably the best.
