Can anyone help point me in the right direction on fixing problems related to the following Universal GSM2 errors?:

1) Axis head 1 Z position following error during Move Absolute command.

2) Axis head 1 Z error not recognized during Move Absolute command.

3) Timeout waiting for spindle down.

All three errors are on-screen consecutively. After palming down then restarting, machine will run fine for a while until errors repeat. I checked the z-position flag sensors and they seem O.K.

Thank you in advance...

Hi, First of all, you need to determine where the problem area is. It could be that you have this problem on just one spindle? Try to isolate the problem spindle by rename your program to something like 0 and bypass the fiducial check!!! This is important! If it is head 1 then it is the rear head of the machine, but sometimes the error messages can't be trusted, so do somthing like this:

With your new program 0 in the editor go to pattern > bypass every pattern steps except 1 of them; the one step that calls for Head# 1 Now start with the first spindle on that head > for ex. no. 1 > save > load the new pattern in Dry cycle!!! > Run/Start. The reason for bypassing the fiducial check is that you don't need a pcb in the machine for this and it will not call for the fids. If the machine runs fine > stop > edit pattern > choose spindle # 2 > save > reload > run. Now do this on every spindle on the head and if/when you reach the next head > bypass the patternstep you already been working with and choose another one that already uses a spindle from Head #2 and enable that pattern step (in that case you don't need to worry about if there is a specific nozzle assigned to that head) and repeat the procedure.

If you running into a halt after the first trial, continue anyway with at least 2 more spindles. It could be that you are having problem with the clutch on just one spindle or it could turn out to be the z-axis motor, or the servo amp, pin mirror, or ,etc? But by know you should at least have a hint on which head or even better which spindle on that head causing your problem. From there it is much easier to continue.

If it turns out to be the clutch and you don't have a spare part, then alter your program so that the head don't use that particular spindle, until you receive a new one. Please don't hesite to ask if it is something unclear. /Mika Ps. Maybe I do an overkill on this one because somebody else already has the solution...Ds.

Great start - thank much, Mika. I'll try to isolate it today so I can figure out where to go from there.

I just had these errors the other day. The problem was the Z axis drive belt was chewed up.

Thanks Mika and Pitbull - worn z-drive belt is the answer. Looks good from the outside (not frayed on the edges or anything). Removed it and it's missing some teeth. New one = runs fine.
