Questions are: * What is your concern about this capacitor? * Are you running a leadfree process? * Is the component leadfree?

Generally, we are ecstatic when compoents are on tape and not in plastic bags. And if they solder, well, we're dancing in the aisles. Those lil' puppies could have a 1986 date code and we wouldn't even shield our eyes.

Thanks.

What's the manufacturer & part number? (some chip caps have been compliant for over 10 years)

Are you worried the terminations might b oxidized? Do a dip test. If you have a solder pot carefully dip one termination of the cap into the solder. And see how well it wets. If that test doesn't satify the powers that be, then you can design a more elaborate DOE.

Hi,

If your worried about them being lead free components, because it's "not clear" then you should be able to ask the manufacture of them if they are lead free, as they normally trace the batch code, and manif date and will know for sure.

Most passive component manufactures seemed to just quietly change to lead free, and did not tell anyone, so the part numbers did not change. So a lot of parts need to be traced to check it for sure.

On some of our legacy products, we regularly use stock as old as 1998, with no issues.
