Pb-free SOIC's & UIC GSM Camera Recognition

Pb-free SOIC's & UIC GSM Camera Recognition | 9 June, 2006

We have some problem with the Pb-free SOIC's at the UIC GSM2 on the Flexjet head camera; (seem to remember this from before, but I can't find it on this forum).

The Pb-free small SOIC:s are reflecting the light differently than leaded parts and are therefore rejected through out the vision system (at a high rate).

No matter what we are changing the light value or threshold to. We have also tried to use the P2P (Upper looking Camera) on the rear side of the machine, but it is even harder with the 2.6 mil/pix camera to do the small Pb free SOIC recognition. Our GSM2's are configurated with 4.0 mil/pix P2P camera on the front & 2.6 mil/pix P2P camera at the rear side. No problem with the 4.0 mil/pix P2P camera on the front side.

But we don't like to use the P2P upper looking cameras as it slows down the placement rate that the GSM2 with a Flexjet head can handle.

And more of, the number of feeders we are using on some of the products we produce, make it impossible for us to put every "trouble parts" on the front side of the machine.

We have to do some line balancing through out our lines and therefore, we must place these comps. in the GSM's instead for the chipshooters.

Anybody else with this problem? Any ideas would be grateful.

Sorry for my poor english. /Sincerly
